Confronting Racism

Universität Hamburg, Edmund-Siemers-Allee 1, Ost, Room 221 (Second Floor), Accessibility information

People in Germany who stand out from the white majority due to their appearance, name, or background face discrimination in many direct and indirect ways. Yet, many non-affected individuals (and even some affected) lack the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the often uncomfortable issue of racism.

In this workshop, you will deepen your understanding of racism in Germany. We will explore its historical context and focus on key topics like discrimination, microaggressions and critical whiteness. By the end of the session, you will be able to reflect on your own behavior, recognize various forms of everyday racism, and gain practical tools to actively combat discrimination and racism.
